Unexpected Productions FAQs

Our shows are open to all age groups, but it's important to keep in mind that we categorize them as PG13 unless stated otherwise in the show description. While we strive to make our content appropriate for both teenagers and adults, the unpredictable and interactive style of improvisation means that we cannot always guarantee the suitability of the content.

We host Duo Comedy Showcase on Wednesdays at 8 pm; Loose Cannons Thursdays at 8 pm; Mainstage shows, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 pm; Theatresports Fridays and Saturdays at 9:30 pm; and Sundays at 7:00 pm. Check out our events page.

Unexpected Productions shows run approximately 70-90 minutes long. Since each performance is unique, it is difficult to provide an exact time.

Our shows are packed with excitement, humor, and unpredictability. We rely solely on improvisation, which means we never have a set script or plan. Our gifted improvisers use audience suggestions to spontaneously create unique moments during each performance. Every show is unique and different from the last due to its improvisational nature.

If you are celebrating an anniversary, birthday, or a bachelor/bachelorette party, please let us know. We will try to get you a shout-out from the stage or use you in a scene. We can’t always guarantee it, but we will try.

Our performances are designed to involve you, the audience. We ask questions to generate scenes and work together to create an entertaining experience. While we do invite volunteers to participate, we never pressure anyone to come on stage or make fun of anyone. If you do choose to volunteer, we ensure that you have a good time, stay safe, and make lasting memories.

Unexpected Productions’ Market Theater is located downtown in Pike Place Market, in the heart of Seattle’s Tourist District.

On foot, go to the main entrance of the Pike Place Market at 1st and Pike. There, you’ll find Rachel, Pike Place Market’s full-sized brass piggy bank, beneath the neon sign and clock, right by the famous Pike Place Fish Company. From the pig, go down the stairs and around the corner into Post Alley, where you’ll find the Unexpected Productions at the Market Theater, along with the famous Gum Wall!

Yes, we are.

We have a full bar featuring craft beers, alcohol, and wine. Soft drinks and bottled water are available, as well as popcorn, assorted chips, and candy are available for purchase.

Tickets for our regular are $15 per person online and $20 at the door, $12 for military/student/senior (65). Prices vary for our specialty shows.

Yes, we accept most major credit cards.

We offer a 20% discount for groups of 12 or more.

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds or exchanges. We highly recommend that you please double check your date and time before purchasing your tickets.

At our organization, we prioritize the importance of connection. Our focus on “Yes, And” in all improv games and exercises enhances listening skills and fosters a supportive environment for our teambuilding activities. We are primarily an improv theater. Occasionally we do offer guest artists and different types of performances, but it is rare.

Improv involves group collaboration to create a spontaneous story based on audience suggestions, while standup is a solo performance relying on a memorized script.
