DESCRIPTION:How do they do that? Learn the basics of improvisation. Discover how to actively listen\, to use your own life to create stories\, and work on the fundamental principles of improvisation. The class will focus on team building and the concept that “If your teammate looks good\, then you will look good”. Emphasis will be placed on understanding and utilizing basic scene work skills and most importantly\, having fun. Learn how to incorporate rhythm and poetry into your improv scenes with ease. \nImprov games serve as gateways to the Five Pillars of Hip-Hop\, teaching students how to create entirely improvised hip-hop songs. By combining fundamentals of improv with free-styling\, beat-boxing\, and crowd techniques\, students gain a deeper understanding of hip-hop and how to use these elements to enhance scene work and have fun on stage. \nDates: 6 Saturdays \nTime: 4-6:30 pm \nLocation: 650 S Orcas Suite 101\, Seattle 98108 \nMaximum Students: 14 \nCost: $275 \nPrerequisite: Improv 100 or equivalent or by teacher approval \nAges: 18+ \nInstructor: Dre Anderson \nUnexpected Productions’ ensemble member\, Dre Anderson is excited to teach Fundamentals of Improvised Hip Hop at the Improv School. With over a decade of experience collaborating with Seattle artists\, Dre enjoys sharing his love for freestyle and technique to help others unlock their potential. As co-director of An Improvised Hip Hopera and performer at Unexpected Productions\, Dre combines improvisation with hip-hop to create original songs\, characters\, and stories. When not on the Unexpected Productions’ stage you’ll see Dre working in the community as a teaching artist for Seattle Theatre Group and Seattle Children’s Theater and operating cameras for Pacific Northwest Theatre Associates. \nWhen not on the Unexpected Productions’ stage you’ll see Dre working in the community as a teaching artist for Seattle Theatre Group and Seattle Children’s Theater and operating cameras for Pacific Northwest Theatre Associates. \nNOTE: Please note that this class has a great deal of movement and action. You’re experiencing Theatresports\, a high-energy improv show where teams of improv professionals create spontaneous scenes that are so hilarious\, quick-witted\, and perfectly constructed that it’s hard to believe they are made up on the spot. \nJoin us every Friday and Saturday at the Gum Wall in Pike Place Market\, with doors opening at 9 PM and the show starting at 9:30 PM. \nTheaterSports\, all the way! They are goofy\, silly\, funny\, unabashed\, clever\, witty people. I didn’t know what to expect before going but found myself laughing at practically everything they did or said.
