The significance of the name “Womb Escape,” which began in 2007, is that each team originally spawned from our Unexpected Productions improv school then became successful groups on their own without the warmth and comfort of our "womb-like" theater! It has evolved into a tournament for anyone in the pacific northwest with an interest in performing improv. All experience levels are welcome! At the Black Box Theater at the Edmonds Communicty College in Lynnwood.

Each team (four per night) performs four sets of improvised comedy scenes. Audience cheers are what determines the winners. The top four surviving teams come back to compete in the ultimate showdown December 22 at 8:05pm in the championship round to gain not only a Womb Escape Trophy, but pride, and the satisfaction of knowing that their quick wit and ingenious humor gained them comedic respect in the eyes of improv connoisseurs across the Pacific Northwest .... Or that they had the most friends in the audience!

For the 6th year in a row, 12 of the finest improvisational teams in the Pacific Northwest battle it out for pure comedy supremacy and a shot at the coveted "Womb Escape" trophy -- and it's all judged by you, the audience. On each night of the month-long weekend tournament, four skilled troupes perform a set of their finest off-the-cuff comedy magic with the audience choosing a victor. Then the final four return to compete in one last no-holds-barred bout for ultimate victory -- and a chance to break out of their comfortable comedy womb.
