Comedy of Love our annual
Valentines Day show, has some of the finest improv
performers in Seattle! The unique thing about this show

WOMB ESCAPE 2007
The First Xtreme improv
battle of the classes that developed into professional
groups happened over this weekend! 4 of the top improv
groups in the Seattle area, Sisters of Sal, Improv
Faction, Quiet Monkey Fight, and Bagelprov battled it
out in an Xtreme Theatresports match! The top two teams,
Sisters of Sal and Quiet Monkey Fight, fnished the
weekend off in a Cage Match with Quiet Monkey coming out
the victors!

BLOOD SQUAD ROCKS THE MARKET THEATER!
Blood Squad is the hit Halloween show at the Market
Theater. Unexpected Productions cast members, Brandon
Felker, Elicia Wickstead, and Michael White came
together to form this group specializing in the genre of
horror and teen slasher movies! "Trick or Treat:
Where's your face" is a must see for the Halloween
season!

UPS TURNS 100... UP contributes!
The United Parcel Service began in
Seattle in 1907 (the same year as Pike Place Market!)
Unexpected Productions has been asked to supply the
entire cast of UPS characters, ranging from 1907 - 2007!
Improvising as Bike messengers, brown betty's, European
motorcycle couriers, pilots, drivers, etc! All of which
will intermingle in the Seattle Convention Center with
UPS executives from all over the world!

Audition Update!
After grueling deliberation and arguments
that teetered on the edge of fist fights, the casters of
UP decided to bring two of the auditioners that were
agreed upon unanimously and instantaneously!

Unexpected
Productions home is in the heart of Pikes Place Market.
We are proud to announce that we were a large part of
the festivities on this day! Some of our cast members
performed readings and walked around in outfits
resembling those of the early 1900's.

Auditions for UP ensemble... finally!
The last round of auditions
happened over 2 years ago! In January of 2005,
Unexpected Productions added 11 people to the cast. Of
those, only 2 have moved on. The rest have become
seasoned experienced improvisers, some of which have
become fan favorites and big draws at the box
office!

Arcade, written by Donna Rae Davidson and Rob Jones, is
a musical with a setting that takes place in the
historic Pike Place Market's north arcade area which is
the home of crafts people and artists. It opened to rave

Cotton Gin Puppets hit the big screen!

"Rent this Theatre" contest goes to Elizabeth
Westermann of the Crest Theatre in the great state of

This was not an April Fools joke!
The puppets took the match in this unprecedented improv
match! Comedysportz did something similar before it
called Puppets vs People. People vs Puppets was put in
to lead up to last years hit "Cotton Gin"
which opens back up on Friday 4/6/07!

St. Paddy's Bloody Improv Battle!
It's USA vs CANADA in this no
holds bar improv match! This is a St. Patrick's Day
party you won't want to miss! Vancouver Theatresports
has pummeled Seattle in their (we say rigged!) St.
Valentine's Day Massacre (which they won again this
year!) Now, it's Seattle's turn to see if "home field"
is really an advantage! Tickets are $15.
It's
an all ages show, but you must be 21 to enter the
lounge.

Seattle Festival of Improv Theatre V will have 19
performers, 2 venues, the HUT and Market Theatre, and be
produced by the two largest improv organizations in the
northwest, Wing-it productions and Unexpected
Productions.

- Xtreme Improv Battle on New Years Eve!
4 teams of 5 players each battled
it out for the superior improv team of the year! This
team consisted of Susie Simpkins, Brandon Felker, Elicia
Wickstead, Mark Shone, and Mark Pinckney. The audience
scored the scenes.

- UP gets a New Managing Director!
After several months the wait for
an MD is finally over. Long time organization member Jay
Hitt has officially accepted the position of Unexpected
Productions managing director. He will work directly
beside the Artistic Director Randy Dixon, and Education
Director Jill Farris.

- A(n Improvised) Christmas Carol Opens!
The "holiday
anti-classic" (Seattle Times) comes back to
the Market Theater on Nov. 24! This show has been a
consistent hit at Unexpected Productions playing to
sell-out crowds as the holiday season gets
near!

- Slovenia Performs!
Slovenian improv group Teater
Im Narobov performs their special brand of of
improvisation in English! This is their first tour of
the USA. They have previously been to Unexpected
Productions world famous International Festival of
Improv.

- UP alum Mark Pinckney plays Mime in popular KIA comercial!
Mark was a UP member from 1993 - 2003. He moved to Los
Angeles CA to try his luck at show biz. A Few months later, he scores a national
commercial featuring him as mime so in in awh of the new KIA that it causes him
to speak!

UP cast member DANO BEAL was on the hit game show
"Who Wants to be a Milionaire!" Because of his award as America's
Teacher of the Year sponsored by Disney, 'Millionaire' invited him to be part of
'Teacher Week!' He didn't win the million, but he had loads of fun!

Bob
Dassie is
originally from Chicago where he toured with The Second
City and performed at the Improv Olympic for several
years. He has been involved in a variety of improvised
and scripted shows including the musical "Baby
Wants Candy" and the jazz inspired, yet non-musical
"trio" & "quartet." He
co-wrote and performed the critically acclaimed,
two-person comedy revue "WeirDass: UnMentionables"
and was a Demon Tour Guide in the smash hit “Hollywood
Hell House." He is also among the three
person cast featured in the Aspen-accepted short film
"Jakarta Boom-Boom which was derived from the
improvised show "Dasariski." Currently he can
be seen at the Improv Olympic West in "The Armando
Show", "Cog" and the Los Angeles branch
of "Baby Wants Candy."

foundation at EMP with Bill and Melinda Gates!
Members of Unexpected Productions
performed an improv show for the Gates Foundation at
Experience Music Project, Seattle WA. Bill and Melinda
Gates join the fun when they get up and help the players
in an improv scene called pillars. Periodically
throughout the scene, the players would point at Bill or
Melinda and they would respond with whatever came to
their brilliant minds! The players would then
incorporate that in the scene!
1/7/05 Hogan Cup Dream Team #1
This date marks the first time NW
area high school students participating in our Hogan Cup
Improv Showdown will combine to form one mighty improv
ensemble! Two students each shall be chosen to represent
their school in this event with 12 schools in the mix!

The cast takes their successful
Fakespeare show to Bellingham WA performing in the
Upfront Theater. The show was a big hit with the
Bellinghamites!
9/11/04: Warren Miller's
80th Birthday Party!
Warren Miller, best known for his
breath-taking documentary style ski movies, celebrated
his 80th birthday on September 11th (his actual birthday
is in October). UP was the entertainment for this event
and fabulous time was had by all. He and Laurie, his
wonderful wife, are truly an inspiration!
8/27/04: Our 50 hour
Improvathon begins!
This will be our 7th improvathon.
Last year was our 20th anniversary 53 hour improvathon
in which Elicia Wickstead and Paul Levy managed to
endure the entire 53 hours!! Ryan Stiles Showed up and
played for nearly 4 hours!

WINS the national Theatresports™ tournament in Canada!
Congratulations to Tristan Devin,

place in Edmonton, Alberta's annual Theatresports™
Tourney. This is the second year in a row that Seattle
has won. Unexpected Productions would like to thank
Edmonton for their hospitality!

McHale (profile),
The Soap on E (also seen in Almost Live and
dozens of commercials and TV shows) makes an appearance
in Spiderman 2. He play the loan officer in the bank
that Dr. Octopus robs! Joel became a member of UP
in 1993. Also, former UP member/Seattle improv
guru MATT SMITH can been seen in this movie. He
gets wiped out by Dr. Ock in the "runaway
train" scene! We're proud of our alumni!

9/2/03: Unexpected Productions a hit
at Bumbershoot!
For three days at Bumbershoot, the
Seattle Arts Festival, UP presented a unique
improvisational collaboration between improvisers,
dancers, and musicians in special Bumbershoot-only
editions of Blank Slate and That's Life.
Thank you to the 1000+ audience members that showed up
for the three performances at the Charlotte Martin
Theatre. If you saw the show and want to share
your experience, Bumbershoot wants to hear
your story!

for a week of study and performance.
Countries in attendance include: US, Canada, Slovenia,
Germany, Austria, New Zealand, Sweden, Belgium and
Holland.
All shows are just $10 except for Sundays which are $5.
This is Unexpected Productions 7th year of hosting this
festival in Seattle.

Mark Brunell is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL with 3 Pro Bowl appearances. A U.W. graduate, Mark has played in four bowl games (three Rose Bowls, one Freedom Bowl), was the #6 ranked passer in NFL history, and is the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
