DANO BEAL

Dano Beal has been with Unexpected Productions for 8 years. His first exposure to improvisation came in high school, where he attended a workshop with Viola Spolin. He received his BFA in acting and directing from Macalester College in Minneapolis, MN where he appeared with the Guthrie Theatre, the Minnesota Opera, and the Minnesota Children's Theatre. After college, Dano returned to his hometown of Vail, Colorado becoming a founding member and Artistic Director of The Actor's Theatre Project. Dano spent several years touring with several regional and off Broadway theatre companies, appearing in a variety of musical productions including Into the Woods, The Secret Garden, Guys and Dolls, and the North American premier of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Uri. An offer from "the Mouse" found Dano touring as a character actor for two years before he decided it was time to grow up and get a real job. He received his masters in Education, and is currently teaching in the Seattle School District. Dano received the Disney American Teacher Award in 2003, appearing on a variety of morning talk shows, and presenting workshops on using improvisation in the classroom to school districts across the country. In 2006 Dano appeared on Who wants to be a Millionaire, (he did "OK," but didn't win the big bucks...) and he remains active as a consultant for Disney Learning. He's really proud to be part of Seattle's premier Improv Theatre!
