BRIAN GARBE
___________________________________________________________________
Brian is
Unexpected Productions current Tech Imp Extraordinaire’. He is best
known as the master of the light board, dazzling the audience while
improvising with the players by adding mood lighting, scenic backdrops and
the occasional spot light. More recently he has begun to experiment and
play with the role of sound technician. The world of sound effects and
subtle background melodies help enrich most scenes and shows. Brian enjoys
both roles so much that he is often found performing lights and sound at
the same time!
Brian has
been an active member of the improv community since 2005 when he began
taking classes through Unexpected Productions. Brian soon heard the call
of duty and gleefully took on the role of lighting technician. Since then
he has performed in over 500 shows as a Technical Improvisor. He has
worked on a multitude of formats that include Black Eyed Blonde,
Improvised Shakespeare, Where’s Earth?, The Cotton Gin (season 1&2)
as well as the seasonal favorites Campfire and Improvised Christmas Carol.
He took part in and completed The Improvathon in 2006; he also has worked
for artists that have visited The Market Theatre that have included other
improv groups, scripted shows, solo performances, musicals as well as
amateur dance competitions. But that’s not all; Brian has also worked
outside of UP and the Market Theatre by running lights for high school
plays and even a burlesque show.
Brian is
very proud to be a founding member of Carni-logic and remains an active
student improviser. He can be seen semi-regularly on Thursday nights at
the Market Theatre.
