Rachel has been involved in Theater and Film since a very young age, when she blessed an audience with her ear-screeching performance as a lion in her kindergarten's not-so-conventional rendition of The Lion King. In the home video (which is the only proof of said performance) she belted her two assigned lines from "The Circle of Life" as though the moment was the most brilliant, exhilarating, audacious thing she'd ever done. She didn't know then, nor did she know for the next five years of performances, that her life would spiral into a passionate one filled with adoration and desire for the stage, languid without the feeling she got when surrounded by the Theater. She did, however, know that she craved that feeling--that it was unique and fervid and impossible to find any other way. She satisfied this craving playing such roles as Hannah in Alan Ayckbourn's A Chorus of Disapproval, Lady Macbeth in Shakespeare's Macbeth, Helena in Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Guildenstern in Tom Stoppard’s Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Big Mary in Kaufman & Ferber’s Stage Door, and others. She’s worked in educational films, commercials, and student films. She collaborated with her high school’s drama class to create four original works, and after graduating went on to study drama at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. After completing two years at the Lee Strasberg Film and Theatre Institute in New York City, she returned to Seattle where she was fortunate enough to join Unexpected Production’s Theatresports Ensemble as an apprentice. Now she spends her mornings working at Allstar Fitness, her days reading/running/knitting/galavanting/blogging/movie-watching/guitar-playing/pondering thoughtfully, and her nights blissfully exploring the stage with the most talented and heart-filled improvisers around. |
